Commercial Building

At this commercial property we had the opportunity to design and install indigenous plantings to retrofit a storm water retention basin. In the basin we planted specific plant species that will generate root systems that naturally filtrate storm water before infiltrating back into the water table and streams. This promotes cleaner water free from harmful toxins. In addition we designed and installed the elevated planting boxes that surround the office windows. In this application we used a porous plant medium that is commonly used for green roofs. This reduces weight capacity, proper moisture retention for plantings and sufficient drainage away from the building. We used a diversified number of plantings from the species “Sedum” to create a variety of colors and textures to give a visually pleasing view from the office windows.
